FAQ

Robotic Knee Replacement

For patients suffering from severe osteoarthritis knee pain, knee replacement surgery has brought many relief. Advancements in technology, like the robotic knee replacement, may be able to offer relief with shorter recovery times and longer-lasting results.

Robotics technology is currently being used to perform a variety of procedures, including full knee replacements. Sano Orthopedics is committed to using the latest innovations to reduce pain, improve function, and speed recovery for the optimal patient outcome.

Dr Deepak inamdar has been trained in computer guided navigated knee replacement surgery from SGH Singapore and Robotic knee replacement surgeries training from FORTIS Jaipur

why robotic knee replacements ?

  • Precision
  • Better balance
  • Faster recovery
  • Quicker return to function
  • Better alignment and biomechanics.

Who is a candidate for robotic knee replacement surgery?

If you’re a good candidate for traditional knee replacement surgery, you’re likely a good candidate for robotic knee replacement.

Joint replacement surgery is a major decision. Our team always tailors treatment plans around your individual needs. For some patients, traditional knee replacement surgery is still recommended.

The surgery is not performed by a robot.

While robotic knee replacement does NOT mean a robot is doing your knee surgery, the procedure does involve the assistance of a robotic arm. The robotic arm’s job is to help the surgeon perform with greater precision. Your orthopedic surgeon is still 100% in control. This leads to our next point: experience matters.

Experience matters.

Having a qualified, experienced surgeon use the robot is the key to successful results. Newer, state-of-the-art robotic instruments have the potential to improve outcomes for patients, but they are not a replacement for the “good old fashioned” experience.

Surgery comes with risks.

Robotic knee replacement surgery comes with the same risks as traditional knee replacement surgery. Stated another way, there are no additional risks to robotic knee replacement compared to a traditional knee replacement. The risks of knee replacement surgery include, but are not limited to:

  • Nerve damage
  • Deep vein thrombosis (blood clots)
  • Infection
  • Continued pain

Promising results, but more long-term data is needed.

Robotic techniques allow for greater precision. This allows surgeons to customize knee replacements to each patient’s anatomy. Thus far, this knee innovation shows promising results.
